Away With The Manger!

‘Tis the season for ill will and contentions! We have had (here in Buffalo) in the recent past a problem concerning a manger scene that was placed in front of a particular town hall. Once again it seems that a very vocal minority have begun to complain. Let me state this up front: they did not complain that their religious symbols were not allowed to be displayed, but rather had a problem with the “Christian” display.

The display was not taken down, but it was decreed that any and all religious symbols could also be displayed in front of the town hall. So a symbol was placed right next to the manger scene. That symbol happened to be a Wiccan symbol, placed there by the minority Wiccans.

The very first evening that the Wiccan symbol was erected, someone (in the middle of the night) decided to run it over with their vehicle. The next morning, the symbol was flat on the ground with tire tracks over it.

The local radio talk shows were buzzing over this problem and people were allowed to call in and voice their opinion. As much as I wanted to voice mine, I listened intently to those who chose to do so. A woman of the Wiccan religion called to complain about how other religions just want to be recognized in this country and how unfair it is that “Christian” holidays are observed. All of the other callers were outraged that the Wiccans even wanted the symbol displayed next to the “Manger Scene”. Yet all the callers expressed outrage at the thought of someone disrespecting the Wiccan symbol by driving over it.

My thoughts:
1. The initial call of complaint was not to gain freedom to display the Wiccan symbol, but rather to complain about and have removed the “Christian” manger scene. I’m not fooled! People hate Christianity and more specifically Jesus Christ. The proof is in the pudding. When I stand on a street corner with a sign that says “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (ROMANS 5:8) I get scornful laughter, middle fingers, cussing and all sorts of dirty looks. If I were to stand out on that same street corner with a sign that says, “Allah is God” I would likely (in the name of political correctness) receive very little opposition. If I stand on the street corner with a sign that says, “Go Bills!” I would likely receive car honking and cheering…but “zero” opposition. I’ve never once viewed a person give a teenage girl in a bikini the middle finger for offering $2 car washes. You see, people hate Jesus Christ. They hate him because deep down inside they know they will one day stand before him in judgment. The manger scene was almost taken down, not because others want their “religions” displayed, but rather because they hate Jesus Christ.
2. (Gal 5:19-20) “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies…” (Deu 18:10-11) “There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.” God very obviously does not want a witchcraft symbol to be placed next to a display meant to honor him. By allowing this, we are asking for God’s judgment to fall on this nation.

The Wiccan symbol was, of course, placed back up. Christians were to blame for desecrating the symbol and one of two things will happen in the future. Either they will set up some sort of surveillance to monitor the future displays or they will discontinue the display all together. Either way, Christianity suffers and idolatrous religion continues its free course unabated to the hearts and minds of the American people. I assume that the removal of the displays all together is what will likely happen. They will not want to spend the money to protect that which they really do not care about to begin with.

That leaves us with the purposeful destruction of the Wiccan symbol. I personally appreciate someone who has the guts to stand up for what they believe in. It is not that I feel that Wiccans do not have the right to worship whatever they so choose. They do! God gave me a free will and He gave them a free will as well. But I personally think that whoever did that, though foolish and trite, had guts. He stood for what he believed in when what he believed in was attacked. He broke the law, and should and will be punished. But how many Christians defend the name of Jesus when that name is used as a cuss word? How many Christians defend their faith at all? We’ve run into the “Christian Closet!” I thought we were supposed to be “Marching upward to Zion!”

So what do you think?

I personally want to wish each and every one of you a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! You will not hear me say, “Happy Holidays!” I am very aware of the pagan origin of Christmas, but in my HEART and in my MIND I am memorializing the fact that GOD HIMSELF was born of a virgin. GOD HIMSELF came and walked on this earth. GOD HIMSELF came for a purpose. GOD HIMSELF lived a perfect and sinless life. GOD HIMSELF suffered my shame on the cross of Calvary.

I put my trust in thee O GOD!
I put my faith in thee O GOD!
I put my hope in thee O GOD!
Thank you for the precious gift of Salvation…there is no greater gift.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!
