Media Misrepresentation

I really must stop listening to talk radio! Anyhow, on the drive into work I heard a news update with this headline: Sex Education Prevents Children from Having Sex. Then the information was given as follows:

1. 2000 students given a sex-education class in an urban school.
2. These students were between 14-15 years of age.
3. All students were surveyed after the class.
4. 59% of the females said they were less likely to have sex after attending the class.
5. 17% of the males said they were less likely to have sex after attending the class.

There you have it…proof that sex education works! (You cannot see my face or hear the tone of my voice, so let me help you: SENSE THE SARCASM!!!) This was one of the most ridiculous news briefs I have ever heard! How can they possible give such a title (as stated above) to this brief? This survey in no way, shape or form proves anything! Here’s why:

1. I was not able to find the exact population of 14-15 year olds in America. But here is what I found: 10-14 (8,273,801) 15-17 (21,145,157) A survey of 2000 students is no survey! To advocate a finding based on less than 1% of the population is just bad science! This is actually worse than the Global Warming science!
2. Let’s be honest…a 14 year old cannot be trusted to make a decision on his/her own as to whether or not they should have sex. Adult men fall by the enticement of sex all of the time. Why would we think that a 14 year old would be any stronger at overcoming its enticement than an adult would be?
3. Two hours of STD information and unwanted pregnancy information only swayed 17% of males from abstaining? This gives you the right to say that Sex Education prevents children from having sex? REALLY?!!!

What will prevent teens from having sex? Well, if the desire is there and the willingness couples desire, they are going to do what they will. However, if the fear of God is instilled in them there is a less likely chance of their engaging in this sort of activity. They need to know that God would disapprove of their actions and that He will judge their actions.

(1Th 4:3) “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:”

(Eph 5:3) “But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;”

Children also need to be policed. We live in an age where parents are more interested in being a friend to their child than in being a parent to their child. To all of the adults reading this blog: please remember back! You got into the most trouble when your parent's backs were turned. The minute they allowed you some freedom, you more than likely took advantage of that. While the cat is away, the mice will play…unless there is some fear of God in them. You see, they know that someone is still watching. But left to our own devices, we get into trouble. Even adults need accountability; How much more so 14-15 year olds?

(Pro 22:6) Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

We do not need sex education, we need GOD EDUCATION!

(Psa 119:105) Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

May the grace and peace of God be upon you all!
