We had quite a snow storm hit us this past Sat. & Sun. morning (12/15th & 12/16th)…so much so that church service was canceled! This was the first time in a very long time that I did not head off to church on a Sunday morning. So I lounged about in my pajamas. I put the word of God on my lap early and read the book of Ezra. After my reading I turned the idiot box on, sipped some tea and watched “Meet the Press.” The guest was Mitt Romney.
I listened as he answered questions about Iraq and Iran. He addressed our use of alternative resources in order to make both the “tree hugger” and the “SUV driver” at least somewhat happy. He also addressed the need for the nation to recognize God. Now let’s just make this clear, Mitt Romney is a Mormon. Yes, that means he partakes in the religious practices of a cult. Now on the show he mentioned the need to realize Jesus Christ as the Son of God…to which I say, “Amen!” However, we all know that when you begin to prod a Mormon, that they will begin to tell you that you need to be water baptized in order to be saved, which is adding to the gospel, which means NO SALVATION. There is no need to discuss the other theological ideas of Mormonism; that is not the reason I write this blog.
I am simply curious. My wife Wendy asked a question related to whether or not I would or could support a Mormon who runs for president. My first thought was, YES. Let me give you the reasons why:
1. He is not for the secularization of the American public.
2. He is against abortion.
3. He is for a biblical approach to marriage. (at least in the sense of man and woman…I am not sure what he thinks of having more than one wife)
4. He is against radical Islam.
5. He is for drilling in Alaska in order to reduce gasoline costs.
6. He is for developing alternative sources of power in order to keep America from having to be dependent upon the oil of terrorists.
7. He is for prayer in the schools and education of the Creator.
8. These were some of the things mentioned on the Meet the Press program.
All of this sounds great and I am for all of the above mentioned statements. However, my concern lies within the Mormon practices. First, their idea of salvation is not Biblical. Can I support someone who teaches a false gospel? (Gal 1:8-9) Next, their interpretation of the Bible always points (doctrinally) to Joseph Smith instead of to Jesus Christ. They have a tainted view of Israel’s nationality from what I understand. Therefore I cannot trust how a Mormon would deal with foreign relations when it comes to the nation of Israel. So those are some of my concerns. I am curious as to what those of you in “Blogland” think. Would you vote for Romney? Would you vote for a JW or a Mormon? I’ve often told people that I can never cast my vote for someone who is pro-abortion. To me, that would be like consenting to the murder of millions of babies. No thank you! I definitely draw the line there. So, what would you do?
God be with you all…

What about Mike Huckabee?
Baptist Huckabee? Absolutely! I was more curious about what a Christian would do if their best choice was a Mormon or JW. Sorry I didn't make that clear. Thanks for commenting.
